Arnold Schwarzenegger spy drama from Scorpion EP lands on Netflix
The Running Man has found a place to stay for a while: Netflix has handed over a script-to-series engagement for a spy drama starring action movie icon Arnold Schwarzenegger, according to our sister site Deadline.
The untitled project, announced back in August, is an hour-long international espionage adventure centered on Schwarzenegger’s character and daughter, played by Monica Barbaro (Chicago Justice, UnREAL). Scorpion creator Nick Santora will serve as creator and executive producer.
This is Schwarzenegger’s first scripted regular TV role. He is of course best known for starring in action films like The Terminator, Predator and Total Recall, as well as for comedies like Kindergarten Cop and Twins. (He also took the time to serve as California Governor from 2003 to 2011.) Schwarzenegger has previously been featured on the small screen, particularly as Donald Trump’s successor to host NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice, who fueled up after a single season him at the helm.
Schwarzenegger has also pledged to play in Amazonas Outrider, a western series of events set in the Oklahoma Indian Territory in the late 19th century. He’ll play a ruthless federal marshal who teams up with a deputy to track down a legendary outlaw in the wild.
