Gorillaz Go Heavy On Collabs for brand spanking new ‘Track Machine’ album [LISTEN]

Gorillaz just dropped a new album Song Machine, Season 1: Strange Timesas the group advances the music in limitlessly inventive ways.

One of the standout features for us is “The Pink Phantom” which offers an extraordinary mix of sounds and styles. Swirling, classical piano arrangements paired with a thick, heavy beat and an abundance of musical ideas that usually clash but find imperfect harmony. Cutting through the mix, a great vocal performance by Elton John vs. 6LACK‘s smooth, automatically tuned flow.

The album offers a great mix of collaborations with Beck, Schoolboy Q., St. Vincent, slowthai, JPEGMAFIA, GoldLinkand so many more. We are in love with the diversity and the contrast that Gorillaz brings to the table – from the assertive nature of “How far?” Tony Allen and dirt legend Skepta to the smoothness that can be heard on “Friday 13th” Octavian.

Twenty years on from her career, Gorillaz has been releasing innovative, compelling music time and time again, and our ears are full.
