Gucci Mane replaces TI for Jeezy within the subsequent VERZUZ battle

In late October, VERZUZ announced that Jeezy and TI would lead the program’s return on November 19th. Starting tonight (November 14th) there is a new line-up: Gucci Mane will test his hits against Jeezys instead of TI. It happens Friday at 8 p.m. Eastern, see more details below.

In an interview with The Breakfast Club last week, Jeezy said he had previously asked Gucci Mane to join him on VERZUZ but that the rapper “respectfully refused” through Swizz Beatz. Previously, Gucci Mane tweeted on October 29th, “Stop asking me about a @verzuzonline fight unless they have a million dollars they’re dreading wop.”

Jeezy and Gucci Mane had a long-running feud that culminated in 2005 when Gucci Mane was charged with the murder of rapper Pookie Loc, a Jeezy employee, during a home invasion. Gucci Mane was acquitted on self-defense grounds in early 2006. This summer, Jeezy took part in TI’s ExpediTIously podcast and showed an interest in easing the tension between him and Gucci Mane with TI’s encouragement.
