How Gal Gadot’s Surprise Lady audition with Ben Affleck instantly earned her the function

Gal Gadot’s casting as Princess Diana aka Wonder Woman is arguably the most popular choice the DCEU has made in terms of casting. The character first appeared in a supporting role in Batman v. Superman up. The film’s director, Zack Snyder, picked Gadot for the role after an excellent audition. In an interview with TheFilmJunkee, Snyder revealed that Gadot’s standout performance in her foreplay scene with Ben Affleck when Bruce Wayne ensured the director had found his Wonder Woman.

“When we did the casting of Gal … They did a scene that is not in the movie, we had just written it for audition and she was just facing [Ben Affleck] about his drinking or, I don’t know, something intense, so at the end of the scene she says something to him – it’s kind of a riff about “you’ve never known a woman like me”. And then at the casting he does the scene like that [serious face]and then she says it and he goes [looks at the camera and raises eyebrows] “whoa.” And it was great because we just said, “I think this is Wonder Woman. You kind of got checkmated there, so I think we’re done with the casting.”

While Gal Gadot Her small role in Batman vs. Superman made her an instant fan favorite. With the solo Wonder Woman film by the filmmaker Patty Jenkins, the actress cemented her place as the top heroine of the DCEU. In a previous interview, Jenkins had revealed that she initially had doubts about starring an actress who she hadn’t personally picked, but watching Gadot in action cleared any doubts from her mind.

“I remember reading that on the news Wonder woman had been poured and my heart sank. I had talked to the studio about it for so long and I thought this was it. I am sure we would not have made the same choice. And then I started paying attention to her, watching her and looking at her, and it was just amazing. In all honesty, I think they did a better job than I could have because I don’t know that I would have scoured the earth so hard to find them. I don’t know that I would have looked international. I was just looking for an American girl. The fact that they found and selected Gal is a magical gift to me. ”

Jenkins and Gadot’s next team is for the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984. Directed and co-written by Jenkins, movie stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell.

Wonder Woman 1984 takes place a few decades after the events of Wonder Woman 2017 and sees Princess Diana take on the combined threat of Maxwell Lord and The Cheetah. The film hits theaters on December 25th and HBO Max hits the US, and is currently available in theaters in international markets.
