JB Smoove confirms his return as Julius Dell in Spider-Man: No Way Home
After appearing in Spider-Man: Far From Home, JB Smoove has confirmed that his character will return in this year’s sequel Spider-Man: No way home. In the previous sequel, Smoove appeared in the cast as Midtown High School teacher Julius Dell. Director Jon Watts and screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers wrote the role specifically for Smoove, based on his appearance with Tom Holland in an Audi commercial.
There’s no shortage of rumored and confirmed characters to see in Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was therefore difficult to say whether there would be room for Smoove in the film to return. In a recent interview with The Daily Zeitgeist, JB Smoove spoke about his work on comic book adaptations, touched on his voice-over work on Harley Quinn, and announced that he had finished his work on Spider-Man 3.
“I don’t know how many people did it, but I’m in both the Marvel and DC universes. I’ve been in Spider-Man: Far From Home and just made the new Spider-Man as well, and I am it frank the plant in the animated universe of Harley Quinn. ”
Previously, Smoove spoke about his possible return to the MCU in an interview with ComicBook.com in 2019. At the time, the actor said he wanted to star in a Power Man and Iron Fist project for Marvel Studios alongside Martin Starr. Smoove also made it clear that he would do something with Marvel if they ever called him to come back.
“I would like to see how Power Man and Iron Fist are founded … If they called me, I would definitely be there,” said Smoove at the time to the point of sale. “I would think the job Martin Starr and I did is remarkable and I think we had great chemistry in front of the camera. He’s a great guy and I would think we did a great job and I would think it would carry over. ” Anything, any special plans they have with Spider-Man and the Marvel Universe. Damn it, maybe they’ll give us both powers. Maybe he plays Iron Fist and I play Power Man. “
Smoove’s return seems to suggest that Starr will also appear as Roger Harrington in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the sequel, Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx will appear as Doctor Octopus and Electro, repeating roles from alternate Spider-Man universes. Rumor has it that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will act as different Spider-Men due to a multiverse.
Benedict Cumberbatch will also appear in the film as Doctor Strange, likely to establish the rumored spider verse story that brings in various characters from alternate universes. In addition, Cumberbatch will repeat the role in its upcoming sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiversum of Madness, in which WandaVision favorite Elizabeth Olsen stars as Wanda Maximoff. This movie will be released on March 25, 2022.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to hit theaters on December 17, 2021. This information comes from The Daily Zeitgeist via ComicBook.com.
