Jeff Rosenstock Surprise releases SKA DREAM – a Ska rework of his album NO DREAM: Listen

Jeff Rosenstock shared a full re-recording of his 2020 album NO DREAM; It’s a ska album called SKA DREAM. The album was recorded over long distances by file sharing between Jeff Rosenstock and his band. Each NO DREAM song has a new title that reflects its status as a Ska song. For example, “NO TIME” is now “NO TIME TO SKANK”. Other keywords entered for the original song titles are “Porkpie”, “Checkerboard”, “Pick It Up”, “Rudie” and the word “Ska” for six of the songs. Check out the album below.

As with most ska things in my life, what started out as a fun sucker with friends eventually turned into, “Hey, what if we tried to do well?” We all have quite a long history of playing and touring the country in punk / ska bands. We all understand the stigma that comes with ska, we’ve all dealt with the pitfalls, and we’ve all moved on regardless. If you’re the type of person who loves music as long as it’s not ska, that’s cool. See you. This record is not for you and you don’t have to listen to it. Bye.

Rosenstock sells SKA DREAM vinyl and merch. The album is available for free or through Quote Unquote Records. All of the money goes to the First Nations Development Institute.

NO DREAM was named one of the “35 best rock albums of 2020” by Pitchfork.
