Saturday Evening Reside: Jim Carrey bows to President-elect Joe Biden
Saturday Night Live will need a new president: Jim Carrey hangs his imitation of President-elect Joe Biden in the weekend sketch series.
The comedian made the announcement on Twitter on Saturday, telling fans that his Biden days are officially over. “Although my tenure was only supposed to be six weeks, I was thrilled to be elected your SNL President. I would like to go ahead and know that Biden was the winner because I did it. But I’m only one in a long line of proud fighting SNL Bidens! “
Carrey moved to New York to portray Biden along with former actress Maya Rudolph’s elected vice president, Kamala Harris. The two appeared side-by-side during the controversial 2020 presidential election, but his exit comes as no surprise: the star never officially joined the NBC late-night series full-time.
Carrey portrayed Biden in the first six episodes of season 46 and has not appeared in the last two shows. Although it is unclear who could take his place, Carrey’s departure gives a performer the opportunity to intervene or join a completely new external employee.
SNL is currently preparing its final episode of 2020, which will be broadcast tonight at 11:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m. with presenter Kristen Wiig and musical guest Dua Lipa.
