Scarlett Johansson can be giving Bride of Frankenstein a riff for Apple
The Frankenstein bride is making a comeback thanks to Scarlett Johansson. The Avengers: Endgame Star is committed to starring in bride for Apple and A24. Johansson will also produce the film, which is a new take on the classic character. Interestingly, this doesn’t seem to be at all tied to the version Universal has been working on for several years, originally as part of the failed Dark Universe.
According to a new report, Apple and A24 have partnered again for Bride. The two previously worked together on Billy Murray and Rashida Jones’ On the Rocks, which will debut this weekend. Scarlett Johansson will produce alongside Jonathan Lia. Sebastian Lelio (A Fantastic Woman, Gloria) is to direct. A log line was also displayed that reads as follows.
“A woman created to be an ideal woman, the unique obsession of a brilliant entrepreneur, rejects her creator and is forced to flee from her limited existence and face a world she sees as a monster on flight she finds her true identity, her surprising power and the power to redesign herself as her own creation. ”
The bride of Frankenstein Originally made it to the big screen in 1935 in the classic monster film by James Whale. It was a sequel to Frankenstein from 1931 and is highly valued to this day. Universal had tried to crack the code on a remake for some time, with Bill Condon and, more recently, David Koep serving as directors. Angelina Jolie had been eyed for the lead role. Johansson had this to say in a statement.
“It is long overdue for Bride to step out of the shadows of her male counterpart and stand alone. Sebastian and I are working together with Rebecca Angelo and Lauren Schuker Blum very excitedly to emancipate this classic antihero and to revive her story to reflect her We see change today. ”
In another interesting fold, Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo are writing the script. Blum and Angelo also recently wrote the new Wolfman movie, which has Ryan Gosling linked to the star. This film is produced by Blumhouse for Universal and follows the success of The Invisible Man earlier this year. The bride, on the other hand, appears to be her own business regardless of Universal’s current filmmaker-driven plans for its classic monster franchise. Tom Cruises 2017 The Mummy started and ended the Dark Universe, which was supposed to be the Marvel Cinematic Universe of monster films. That didn’t exactly work out.
Scarlett Johansson starred in Avengers: Endgame, the highest-grossing film in history, last year. The actress will also re-enact the role of Natasha Romanoff in Black Widow, which was originally scheduled to appear this year but has since been postponed to 2021. We will keep you updated as soon as more details about Bride become available. This news comes to us through The Hollywood Reporter.
