See Megan Thee Stallion Speak Beyoncé, physique positivity, extra about Colbert
Stephen Colbert greeted Megan Thee Stallion on today’s episode of The Late Show. The rapper sat down for an interview where she talked about her numerous recent awards, why she called her new album Good News and what it meant to work with Beyoncé. See excerpts from the interview below.
Colbert asked her who could give better advice, Beyoncé or JAY-Z. “JAY-Z gives the funny advice,” she said. “When I have a bad day he says, ‘Girl, you have to be somewhere and ride a boat. Pop up. Have a lot of fun.’ He gives me the hotter girls advice. Beyoncé says, “Look, Queen, just get up.” She says it the nicer way and JAY-Z gives it to me the better way. “Later, after Colbert mentioned Pitchfork was named” WAP “Song of the Year, she turned to the Republican backlash.
She also discussed writing “Body” as a celebration of body positivity and gave Colbert some advice. “The hook literally came off me as I looked in the mirror and admired my lint,” she said. When Colbert replied that he doesn’t like to spend too much time in front of a full length mirror, she replied, “No! You have to appreciate it! Let it marinate, let it sit like, ‘I like that! I like where this is going! ‘”
Megan Thee Stallion’s new album Good News didn’t arrive until the end of November. It was named one of the “50 Best Albums of 2020” by Pitchfork and she had two songs in Pitchfork’s “100 Best Songs of 2020”. Read “The year Megan Thee Stallion became a symbol.”
