Spike Lee directs the brand new Viagra music movie

Spike Lee is making a new music film based on the story behind the creation of Viagra, Deadline notes. It features a script co-written by Lee and Kwame Kwei-Armah, and is based on David Kushner’s 2018 Esquire article, “All Rise: The Untold Story of the Guys Who Made Viagra”. The songwriting duo Mark “Stew” Stewart and Heidi Rodewald, who created the Tony award winning musical Passing Strange, will write the music. Lee previously directed the 2008 production of Passing Strange and premiered the film in 2009.

Lee’s most recent feature film, Da 5 Bloods, was released on Netflix earlier this year. Read “The Pro-Black Bond Between Spike Lee and Prince” in the square.
