Spiral’s new poster reveals the adjusted release date for Saw Movie
“Things are going aside quickly.”
Lionsgate just released a new poster for the coming year Spiral: From the book of the saw. The film is the ninth in the popular horror franchise and follows an investigation into a mysterious new killer. The poster also confirms the new, earlier theatrical release on May 14th, which was first announced last month.
The poster shows Chris Rock as Detective Ezekiel Banks, whose investigation into a string of gruesome murders puts him in the middle of the killer’s twisted game. The images only offer a taste of the film’s cat-and-mouse action, but the menacing glowing spiral that surrounds Rock’s head makes pretty clear what is preoccupying his mind. Rock is accompanied by Samuel L. Jackson as Ezekiel’s father, veteran police officer Marcus Banks, and Max Minghella as rookie detective William Schenk.

The poster arrives while the anticipation for the film grows. Originally slated for May 15, 2020, due to the pandemic, the film was postponed to May 21, 2021 before being brought to its knees for a week. In addition to the revised release date, a gripping new trailer has been released in the past few weeks, along with rumors that a tenth movie will be in the Saw Franchise is already in active development. That last piece of news is a particularly strong vote of confidence in Spiral, one of the first major titles to receive a theatrical release without an accompanying digital release.
Lionsgate’s trust may be legitimate. In addition to the star power of the cast, Spiral sees many of the franchise’s heavy hitters return behind the camera. The script was written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfingerwho also wrote the previous edition, 2017 puzzle. The director has also returned Darren Lynn Bousmanwho directed Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV.
