Action Comic # 1 was written by Jerry Siegel with artwork by Joe Shuster, and the two are believed to be the creators of Superman. The comic book was the first edition of the original edition of Action Comics, and it sold for just 10 cents in 1938. In 2014, a copy of the edition, rated 9.0 by the Certified Guarantee Company, sold on eBay for over $ 3.2, making it the only comic book that sold for more than $ 3 million for a single Original copy was sold.

Of course, Superman was destined to star his own comic series, and the rest is history. Typically, the figure is portrayed as a person born on the planet Krypton named Kal-El. As a baby, he is sent to Earth just before Krypton is destroyed. He grew up as a foster parent in the town of Smallville. After developing various superhuman skills, Kal-El decides to finally use his powers as the legendary superhero Superman.

Over the years there have been many films inspired by Superman. Christopher Reeve played the superhero in a series of four Superman films between 1978 and 1987. Brandon Routh later played the superhero in Superman Returns in 2006, and Henry Cavill took over the role in the DCEU reboot of Man of Steel in 2013. New footage of Cavill as the Man of Steel was shown in Zack Snyder’s Justice League last month. Fans have been campaigning for Cavill to get another solo film as Superman, but Warner Bros. and DC are currently working on a franchise restart with writer Ta-Nehisi Coates.

Either way, it’s a matter of time before Superman is back on screen, as the character will live on forever regardless of who’s next in the role. One look at Twitter today shows you just how popular the legendary superhero remains after being created 83 years ago. Congratulations to the man of steel!
