The Blacklist EP warns “Liz and Pink go to conflict” after Episode 2 Shocker

The following post contains spoilers for the Friday episode of The black list.

Liz Keen blew right past it “Denial” of the grief on the blacklist on Friday, instead she makes herself quite comfortable in the “anger” phase.

In the groundbreaking hour, which also served as the final new blacklist episode until January 22, Red shot and killed Katarina Rostova, despite Liz’s firm belief that if he did any harm to her mother, her relationship with Red would end forever would.

But when Katarina received some long-awaited replies from Dom (who unfortunately also died during the episode), Red saw no other option but to murder Katarina. she had discovered that Red was (supposedly) the elusive KGB mole known as N13, and he (supposedly) also owns the Sikorsky Archives. With this information, Katarina planned to go to the Townsend organization that had put a bounty on her years ago and finally prove her innocence, but Red intercepted that move before she could do it.

As executive producer John Eisendrath told TVLine, the plan to kill Katarina, who is truly dead, was originally supposed to end season 7 last spring. But when the coronavirus pandemic stopped production and forced Season 7 to end some episodes early, her death was postponed to the current season eight.

“What we lost because we couldn’t reach the end of season seven that we had planned, we regained with such an adrenaline-filled beginning of season eight,” says Eisendrath. “We wanted to push Liz and Red apart to start season eight and nothing would do that and kill Katarina immediately after Liz decided to take her side against Red.”

In the middle of Friday’s episode, Liz reminded Red that if he killed Katarina, we’d be done: “We’re done. Whatever that is, what relationship we’ve had or are in, will be over. “In response, Red just put on his hat, stared at Liz for a moment, and then left to do the exact act she had just warned against.

“What Red absolutely cannot take is someone he cannot trust to know certain truths that he does not share,” explains Eisendrath. “When Dom Katarina told these truths, everything changed. Suddenly it was worth the damage to do to his relationship with Liz. “

And Liz’s reaction when she saw Red shoot Katarina – “You’ll never get away with that!” she screamed when Red was thrown away by staff – a threat she wants to meet, the EP says.

“Liz and Red are going to war,” he confirms. “Katarina’s death makes Liz more determined than ever to get answers to questions she has asked for seven years. She is ready to burn every bridge and cross every line in search of the truth. Her determination and everything she’s learned from Red over the years about thinking like a criminal makes her one of Red’s most formidable opponents. “
