The Morning War with Chris Pratt is coming to Amazon this summer
The ensemble’s science fiction action film was originally slated for a theatrical release.
Amazon announced that the Chris Pratt-Staring sci-fi actioner The morning war premieres on July 2nd on Prime Video. It was reported back in January that the streaming service was in talks with Paramount to purchase the film for up to $ 200 million, but a deal has now been made with Amazon for $ 125 million for the video distributed distribution rights.
Written by Zach Dean, The Tomorrow War marks the live-action directorial debut of The Lego Batman movie‘s Chris McKayand the big budget is a damn good concept. A group of time travelers arrives in 2051 to warn humanity that 30 years from now in the future a war will be lost against a deadly alien race that could mean the end of all life on our planet.
Of course, a ragged group of soldiers and civilians will be gathered together and sent off to the future to join the battle, with Pratt’s high school teacher and family man Dan Forester leading the charges. The solid support cast is filled in by Yvonne Strahovski as a scientist and JK Simmons as her estranged father with Betty Gilpin, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Theo Von, Keith Powers, and more on board too.

The Tomorrow War sounds like some sort of movie that would have been a guaranteed box office hit, especially if a seasoned star like Pratt had re-used his action hero credentials. Instead, it seems like a huge hit for Amazon, who have made some serious games when it comes to sucking up high-profile content that they previously spent the top dollar on Borat Follow-up movie film and Coming 2 America. Paramount has sold a number of films over the past year, including the sequel to the Eddie Murphy comedy. Michael B.
