The premiere of the ultimate season of Final Man Standing has been delayed (by an hour)
Last man standing warms the bench a little longer than expected.
Fox announced late Tuesday that the ninth and final season of the Tim Allen comedy premieres on Sunday, January 3rd at 9:30 p.m. ET, an hour later than originally announced. The network will instead use the 8:30 p.m. slot to launch its new animated comedy The Great North, which will air immediately after the debut of Mayim Bialik’s Call Me Kat at 8:00 p.m.
A new episode of The Simpsons will feature Last Man Standing at 9 p.m.
All four shows will air immediately after Fox’s NFL double-header coverage, so those time windows on the east coast could very well shift.
After their special Sunday premieres, Call Me Kat and Last Man Standing will move into their regular time slots on Thursday from January 7th at 9:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. respectively. The Great North, meanwhile, is returning to the Sunday schedule (with the rest of Fox’s animation block) on Sunday, February 14th.
Fox announced in October that Last Man Standing would end with Season 9. “I was lucky to have been part of Last Man Standing,” Allen said in a statement at the time. “I really appreciate the incredible support from our fans in this almost ten-year year of work. As we approach Season 9, I just admire and appreciate the hard work our wonderful cast and crew have done. We’d all thought about quitting the show after that last Season, but together with Fox we decided to add a year so that we can produce a full season to create the smooth and fun goodbye. I’m looking forward to an unforgettable and fun last season. “
