The problem: Wes Bergmann from Double Brokers reacts to this groundbreaking companion twist

The new season of The Challenge is here, and like every season before that, the show is determined to surpass what it has done before. In keeping with the spying theme of the season, Double Agents is a partner game where you’re never really sure if the person you’re working with is really on your side – or if they’ll stay loyal for a long time. At the premiere, each performer could choose their partner, which was more complicated than expected.
Veteran Wes Bergmann was quick to pick Natalie Anderson from Survivor. After watching the other reality show with his wife, he was familiar not only with Natalie’s physical abilities but also with her cunning social game. At first it felt like a win-win decision to work with a powerful girl who would depend on him to forge alliances with his established friends in the house, but Bergman’s choice made them both targets.
“In hindsight all the things that [my wife and I] would pay a compliment [Anderson] It was a problem, “Bergmann told TV Guide.” The other cast is incredibly jealous and insecure … Then if you put me together with a phenomenal girl, that insecurity – you might as well throw some gas on it. In hindsight, I should have taken care of one of them because they are not that good and that would make them feel less insecure if I was with one of them. “
The Big Brother teams, who consider Bergmann to be their main enemy, wasted no time using their strategy to “swing big” against vets and convincing the newbies to join them and throw out big names for the elimination be right. In the first episode, vets CT Tamburello and Ashley Mitchell were eliminated from the house, followed by Bergmann and Anderson, who were nominated for the day’s winners Aneesa Ferreira and Fessy Shafaat.
“They swing me because I have what they want, namely money, fame, power, career, life and family,” Bergmann said of the teams targeting him. “What you have to understand is that I’m 36 years old. You will eventually have what it takes. You don’t make the best decisions … because I’m not the best finalist up there. So instead of when you throw in the best finalists So what’s the best move, throw in the biggest names. It’s going to come back to bite your ass because if that try to get rid of the two people you throw in – if that backfires, you have some Problems. “
It remains to be seen how exactly Bergmann will get revenge. The real reason the season is called Double Agents became clear after the elimination. Though the teams appeared as partners, it was a female elimination and Anderson triumphed over Mitchell and sent the vet home. However, host TJ Lavin presented a new twist after Anderson’s win. She could return to the house with Bergmann as a partner, switch to Tamburello, or instead choose one of the other men in the house (except Shafaat) as a partner. The episode ended before Anderson made her decision, and fans wondered who she was going to choose and what would happen to the person she didn’t.
“”[The twist] That definitely changes things a bit, “explained Bergmann. He explained how he could use it to his advantage in the future.” I [could] Use that as a bit of ammunition for any people who are scared that I have a good girl. The new argument is, “Hey, look, I won’t have this long because it’s only a matter of time before it gets stolen by any of you. So there is no point in following me. ‘”

The cast made their partner decisions on the assumption that they would be a ride-or-die team at least until the finals, but the twist means they could – possibly involuntarily – lose their partner at any time. That will definitely cause some trust issues, but Bergmann claimed it only shook him temporarily.
“The rationale I came up with was to keep telling her everything, because that would be good for so long [our] The partnership lasted, “he said.” It would also build a lot of trust if we were ever to become non-partners. We could still be in an alliance. I didn’t really hold back, but the new rule at least asked me if I should hold back. ”
Does that mean Anderson will remain loyal to Bergmann even though his partner has a big target on her back? We’ll have to wait until next week to find out.
The challenge: Double Agents will be broadcast on MTV Wednesdays at 8 / 7c.
