Empire Vet Taraji P. Henson brings her musical expertise to the table as the host of the 2020 American Music Awards ceremony, broadcast live on Sunday, November 22nd at 8 / 7c on ABC. The appearance marks the actress’s AMA hosting debut.

“The AMAs bring the music community together to celebrate what really drives all artists – the fans,” Henson said in a statement. “I’m proud to take the stage as this year’s host – and also as a fan – for an electrifying night of music.”

As previously reported, Henson is also expected to host an upcoming Facebook Watch talk show on mental health, tentatively titled Peace of Mind With Taraji.

* Odette Annable (Supergirl) will return on The CW’s upcoming Walker series as the bartender and old friend of Walker (played by Jared Padalecki) and his late wife (Genevieve Padalecki), reports EW.com.

* Dear, Victor tapped Betsy Brandt (Life in Pieces, Breaking Bad) to appear again as Felix’s mother, who is struggling with mental health problems, during the second season, reports our sister site Deadline.

* HGTV has the glowing green Design Star: Next Gen, in which eight finalists, designers, renovators and social media brand manufacturers, compete against each other in intense weekly challenges. The jury will consist of Jonathan Adler, designer Lauren Makk and a rotating cast of celebrities. The spin-off from six episodes moderated by Allison Holker Boss will bow in 2021.

* Spectrum Originals and AMC Networks have ordered the psychological thriller Beacon 23, which will air exclusively on Spectrum, followed by a second window on the AMC Networks platforms. The series, which is based on Hugh Howey’s book, is described as a “suspenseful thriller and love story” in which two people are trapped in a lighthouse at the end of the known universe.

* Fox released the first teaser for The Great North, its upcoming animated comedy starring Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), Jenny Slate (Big Mouth) and Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth). The show premieres in February; Check out the promo below:
